Rachael Punches Up The Flavor of Her Tea Cup

Serving Size: 5 servings and it takes about 10 minutes of Prep time

Bring 3 cups water to a boil. Using the side of a knife, crack open the cardamom pods, and add them to the boiling water with the ginger. Boil for 5 minutes, then remove from the heat. Add the tea bags and let steep until the tea is red, about 5 minutes. Whisk in milk to taste. Remove the tea bags, pour the tea through a sieve and let rest for 10 minutes before serving. Ingredients needed:
5 to 10 cardamom pods ( green cardamom powder is used as a spice for sweet dishes as well as traditional flavouring in coffee and tea. Cardamom has a strong, unique taste, with an intensely aromatic fragrance. Black cardamom has a distinctly more astringent aroma, though not bitter, with a coolness similar to mint, though with a different aroma. )
2 teaspoons chopped fresh ginger
3 tea bags
Whole milk

Spiced-Up Tea Taste Variations By Using:

  • Garnish with fresh mint sprig and slice of lime.
  • Brewed tea is combined with orange juice, pineapple juice.
  • Blended with frozen canned peaches, peach nectar and peach yogurt to make a smoothie.
  • Combined with cranberry juice concentrate.
  • Lemonade concentrate and almond extract.
  • Brewed with spices (cinnamon, cloves and ginger), then combined with white grapefruit & lemon juices.
  • Stressful day tea: for the occasional stress reliver combined with mango nectar and mint leaves calming tea with a amaretto, honey and cinnamon.

 

There are multitudinous ways to spice up you Wu-Yi teabag. One can let it steep in boiling water until the desired strength is reached. Adding lemon slices, lime, honey and a cinnamon stick can give a savory twist to the original.
